Police arrested Aminul Haq alias Amin Chairman who was accused in Banshkhali carnage case from Banshkhali upazilla on Monday night.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Banshkhali police conducted a drive at Chowduryghat around 8:30pm and nabbed Amin.
“Amin was arrested as he was accused in case filed for Khanthanabad clash on June 1 that left four persons injured,” said officer-in-charge (OC) Shahjahan Khan of Banshkhali Police Station.
The OC said though Amin was accused in Banshkhali carnage case he was at large after getting bail from the High Court.
Police prayed a five-day remand against Amin after producing him before the court.
Some miscreants set fire to Tejendra Shil's house at Shilpara of Sadhanpur village in Banshkhali upazilla on November 18, 2003 that burnt 11 members of a family to death.
Later, a case was filed against Amin in this connection.
