Nayeemul gets bail
A Dhaka court yesterday granted bail to Nayeemul Islam Khan, former editor of daily Amader Shomoy, in a case filed against him on charge of an allegation of misappropriating Tk 2.35 crore.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Shahadat Hossain passed the bail order after Nayeemul along with his lawyers surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.
Earlier on September 27, the same court asked Nayeemul to appear before it yesterday after MNH Bulu, chairman of BNS Group of Companies, filed the case against him.
Bulu in his complaint said Nayeemul had contacted Bulu proposing to allot shares of the Amader Shomoy as the daily was "facing dire financial problems."
The complainant said he paid the agreed amount of Tk 2.35 crore between May 25, 2009 and September 24, 2011 for the shares.
Later, Bulu came to know that the shares he was promised were already allocated to someone else. Then the complainant served a legal notice through his lawyer asking Nayeemul to pay his money back.
Nayeemul promised to pay his money back within a short time after receiving the notice but refused to pay it on September 24, said Bulu.
