Manikganj Municipality football team got an easy 3-1 win over Ghior Upazila football team in the opening match of the Deputy Commissioner Gold Cup Football Tournament at the Shahid Miraz-Tapan stadium in Manikganj yesterday.
Mohammad Ali of Manikganj Municipality scored a hattrick with goals in the
8th, 20th and 56th minute while Tutul of the Ghior Upazila replied with a single goal in the 60th minute.
Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah formally inaugurated the tournament while Manikganj deputy commissioner Munshi Shahabuddin Ahmed, Manikganj police superintendent Moham-mad Ali Mia, Manikganj Municipality Mayor Md. Ramzan Ali, district sports affairs officer Syed Nazmul Hasan Lovon, district sports association secretary AFM Sultanul Azam Khan Apel, its football sub-committee's member secretary Sudev Saha were also present.
A total of nine local football teams are taking part in the tournament.
District police will face Sonali Ateet Club today.
