A court here yesterday fixed January 9 for hearing of Bijoy TV Scam Case involving Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury.
The court of Chittagong Divisional Special Judge SM Solaiman fixed the date following the arrival of a gazette notification on the absconding accused CCC Chief Engineer Mokhter Alam at the court on January 2.
A delay in arrival of the gazette notification deferred the hearing for as many as five times since December 4, 2007 said state lawyer Advocate Jahirul Hoque.
He said two officials of Bangladesh Government Press and Bangladesh Form and Publishing Office who were served with show-cause notice would appear in person before the court on January 9.
The court ordered Deputy Controller of BG Press AKM Rafiqul Islam and Deputy Controller of Bangladesh Form and Publishing Office Akhter Hossain to explain the cause of delay in publishing the gazette notification.
Mayor Mohiuddin and Chief Executive Officer Imtiaz Hossain were produced before the court yesterday.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case on May 27 and submitted the charge sheet against Mayor Mohiuddin, Chief Engineer Mokhter Alam and CEO Imtiaz Hossain on November 22 for launching the private channel without prior permission of the government.
