India's opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi married Bengali graphic designer Yamini Roy at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh state yesterday.
The wedding took place at the Shri Kashi Kaamkotishwar Temple according to Hindu rites.
Varun, the youngest of the Gandhi family, had invited his aunt Sonia Gandhi, heading India's ruling Congress Party, cousins Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for the ceremony but none of them was present on the occasion.
This is the first big wedding in the Gandhi family, after Priyanka married Robert Vadra in 1997.
