In conversation with Mir Sabbir and Chumki

Mir Sabbir and Chumki

Actors Mir Sabbbir and Chumki are perfectly matched. The two share a marriage based on the solid foundation of love and respect.
The Daily Star (TDS) interviewed them and found a couple at peace with themselves and each other.

Excerpts from the interview:
TDS: When did you two get married?

Mir Sabbir: February 14, 2003.
Chumki: On Valentine's Day-- a love marriage on the day of love.
TDS: How did your love story begin?
Mir Sabbir: I came to Dhaka from Borguna to study and act. My first meeting with Chumki was out of the blue at a programme. She immediately caught my attention.
TDS: After that?
Chumki: We didn't express our feelings in our first meeting. It followed naturally. Sabbir was the first to express his love.
TDS: Any objections from your families during your marriage?
Chumki: A little bit.
Mir Sabbir: Both families knew that no amount of objection would stop us from tying the knot. So we faced no big hurdle.
TDS: You have been married for quite sometime now. What are your dreams now?
Mir Sabbir: We don't demand anything unusual from life but to live happily ever after. Spending quality time with my wife, child and people close to us is enough for me.
Chumki: Living a hassle free life is my dream.
TDS: Do you argue often?
Mir Sabbir: We do argue over trivial issues.
Chumki: Sabbir is the one to call a truce after we fight.
TDS: Can you cite a memorable event from your marriage?
Mir Sabbir: The day I became a father. There are other happy memories, but November 12, 2006 the day my child was born is my happiest memory.
Chumki: Being a mother is the memory I cherish most.
TDS: Which places have you together travelled so far?

Mir Sabbir: We have been to Australia, England, Thailand, Malaysia, Mauritius, India, Hong Kong, Dubai and China. We hope to travel more in future.
TDS: What is the quality you most admire in your wife?
Mir Sabbir: Chumki is an honest and straightforward person. She is a very good cook and can make friends very easily. Apart from being a good actress, she is also a great mother.
TDS: What do you disapprove of in her?
Mir Sabbir: Chumki is very stubborn. A little less of stubbornness would have been better.
TDS: What are your husband's greatest qualities?
Chumki: Sabbir is very friendly. He is also a brilliant actor.
TDS: Name some TV plays in which you have worked together.
Mir Sabbir: We have done only a handful of plays together; Arun Chowdhury's “Brishtir Pore” being one. We also acted in a serial called “Poribar o Ekti Company”.
Chumki: We also worked together in “Bou+Boi” and “Mohonpurer Golpo”.
TDS: How do you spend your leisure hours?
Mir Sabbir: We travel or sit for a casual 'adda'. We also have fun times with our child.
