In a major reshuffle in the police department yesterday, 42 police officials including six deputy inspectors of police (DIGs), 11 additional DIGs, 24 superintendents of police (SPs) and one additional SP were transferred.
Police sources said the establishment ministry transferred the DIGs, additional DIGs and SPs to different districts, divisions and the police headquarters.
Of them, senior most SP Nurul Anwar, who had lost his job during the BNP-led four party alliance rule, was reinstated yesterday following a legal battle.
According to the establishment ministry order, DIG of Rajshahi range AKM Shahidul Haque was transferred to Chittagong Range as DIG, Dhaka range DIG Nazmul Haque to Armed Police Battalion (APBn) Dhaka as DIG, DIG of Chittagong range Amir Uddin to Dhaka Range as DIG, DIG of police headquarters Fatema Begum to Special Branch (SB), Dhaka as DIG, Director of National Security Intelligence Mokhlesur Rahman was posted as the DIG of Rajshahi range, Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Mohammad Nazibur Rahman was transferred to NSI as a director.
