Two lawsuits have been filed against Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and five others on charges of grabbing government lands, removing soil from there and threatening a government official.
Md Mukhlesur Rahman Khan, assistant land officer of Shafipur union land office filed the cases with Kaliakoir Police Station in Gazipur on Thursday.
The plaintiff said the accused grabbed government lands and removed soil from there for Mouchak City Project of Bashundhara Group at Madhyapara and Thakurpara in Kaliakoir upazila.
Meanwhile, police arrested one of the accused Md Masum Hossain, senior official (admin) of Mouchak City Project, from Madhyapara.
The other accused are project General Manager Abid Hossain, its Assistant General Manager Nure Alam Siddiqui, Chief Engineer Salek Hossain and Land Officer Md Faruk Hossain.
Amir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kaliakoir Police Station and investigation officer of the cases, said Mukhlesur alleged when he tried to prevent Akbar Sobhan's men from removing soil from government lands, they threatened him of dire consequences on Sobhan's instruction.
