Desh TV celebrates its first anniversary

Desh TV organised a concert at the Sultana Kamal Women's Sports Complex in Dhanmondi on March 27, celebrating the Independence Day and also the first anniversary of the channel. The event featured performances by Feedback, Souls, Mila, Aurthohin, Warfaze and Nogorbaul.
The concert started with Feedback at 3 pm. The band performed their hits -- "Moushumi", "Majhi", "Din-er Alo" etc.
"We look forward to organising more such concerts on others occasions," said Alamgir Hossain, producer, Desh TV.
The programme was sponsored by Grameen Phone.

A two- day programme was observed by Desh TV Forum in the district headquarters to mark the channel's first anniversary. A painting competition for children was held last Thursday with the participation of over 100 children from different schools.
A colourful rally was brought out on Friday morning.
A discussion, cultural programme and prize distribution among children was held at a hotel on Friday noon. Veteran politician Mohammad Saidul Haque Chunnu; secretary, Human Rights Organisation, Pabna, Shahidur Rahman; secretary of Pabna Press Club, Utpal Mirza; veteran journalist A.B.M. Fazlur Rahman and noted cultural activist Gopal Shannal spoke on the occasion.
The speakers demanded that the satellite channels should focus on the cultural heritage of the country. Through these channels the cultural heritage has to be strengthened, they said. The speakers also called for an end to the proliferation of western culture on the channels.
