The National Board of Revenue (NBR) yesterday asked all banks to provide account information of 24 individuals including former finance minister Saifur Rahman's son Shafiur Rahman Babu, former prime minister Khaleda Zia's assistant personal secretary (APS) Mohammad Abdul Matin and former Awami League MP Kazi Zafarullah.
Banking sources said Central Intelligence Cell of the NBR yesterday served the notice as per the Income Tax Ordinance 1984 to all commercial banks to provide within next 10 days the account information, transaction details and loans received by the 24 individuals.
The 24 on the NBR's list are Saifur Rahman's younger son Shafiur Rahman Babu and Babu's wife Seema Yusuf Rahman, Khaleda's APS Mohammad Abdul Matin, his wife Shaheda Khanam and his 16 other family members, and Kazi Zafrullah, his wife Nilufer Zafrullah and their son and daughter, added the sources.
