The High Court yesterday granted bail to suspended officer in-charge (OC) of Motijheel Police Station AKM Rafiqul Islam in sensational Kamrul Islam Momin murder case.
The High Court bench of Justice Syed Mohammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Rais Uddin granted him bail after disposing of a bail petition filed by Rafiq.
Earlier on October 5, Judge Kaniz Akhtar Nasrina Khanam of the Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 framed charges against Rafiqul and eight others in this murder case.
Kamrul Islam Momin, 22, a student of Dhaka Commerce College, was shot dead near his Ibrahimpur residence in the capital on September 13, 2005.
Momin's father Abdur Razzak filed a murder case with Kafrul Police Station accusing Rafiq and 25 others.
Momin's brother Shamsul Islam told The Daily Star they would file an appeal with the Supreme Court against the HC verdict.
