Strike duo Zahid Hasan Emily and Nigerian Alamu Bukola Olaleken slotted hattricks as holders Mohammedan SC continued their rampant winning approach to emerge Group A champions of Citycell Federation Cup with a massive 8-1 win over Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
Apart from trebles by Emily and Bukola, Nasiruddin and Christian Emeka struck one goal apiece as Mohammedan racked up 19 goals in their three group outings.
Feni Soccer Club finished behind the Black and Whites to qualify for the quarterfinals after seeing off struggling giants Brothers Union 2-1 at the same ground.
Monayem Khan Raju, a winger picked up for the nation team camp by Edson Silva Dido, struck a brace while Enock Bentil pulled one goal back for the Gopibagh-based outfit.
In the day's second match on a rain-socked pitch, having ensured the last eight berths in the previous match, Mohammedan went into the match without sick stopper Wali Faisal, medio Enamul Haq Sharif and speedy winger Zahid Hossain but they never felt the absence of the trio.
Mohammedan took a fourth-minute lead through right-back Nasiruddin, who was seen playing in the right-wing as veteran Hasan Al Mamun took his place.
Six minutes later, Bukola, the top scorer of the last season's B. League, doubled the margin with a well-judged header before the country's sports institution pulled one goal back in the 18th minute through Ali Akbar Kanon.
The Motijheel-based outfit went into the breather with a 3-1 lead after Nigerian Bukola availing a minus from Munna made it 3-1 with a grounder.
After the lemon break, Emily, who had missed two sitters in the first-half, found the back of the opponent net seven minutes into the second half and struck his second in the 69th minute before completing his first hat-trick and tournament's fifth in the 70th minute with a long-rang drive.
With nine minutes to go, Bukola also completed his hat-trick with a place shot and Emeka, who slotted a treble in the previous match, sealed the fate of the match from a spot kick five minutes from time to add insult to BKSP, who conceded 17 goals in three matches.
In the first match, knowing well that a win would be enough to see them in the knockout phase, both Brothers and Feni Soccer fought equally in the first half that saw the ball mostly confined to the midfield.
But the latter had the last laugh in the second half with a brace from Raju.
After being humiliated 7-1 by giants Mohammedan in the previous match, Brothers Union strengthen their line-up with fielding two new recruits midfielder Steven Kwest and Enock Bentil, but the rest could hardly be affected by the Ghanaians.
After resumption, Feni Soccer indicated that they were going to dominate the match as Imrul Hasan tested Brothers goalkeeper Iran Sheikh, who was lucky as Imrul's powerful shot came off the crossbar.
Iran finally failed to resist Feni Soccer as unmarked Raju tapped an Anwar push from close in the 61st minute and seven minutes later Raju, who struck a hat-trick against BKSP, doubled the margin from a difficult angle availing a through pass from Asif Yousuf.
After going down, the All Oranges bit back in the 72nd minute when Enock rose high to nod a Liton Khan cross from the right. Later, Brothers Union went all-out, but they could hardly produce any scoring chances, mainly because of a shaky midfield.
