Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a lawyer on charge of spreading rumours on social media about coronavirus outbreak.

A team of officials yesterday arrested Abu Bakar Siddique from Uttar Badda area after he uploaded different posts on social media containing false and misleading information, said CID Additional Superintendent (Cyber Crime) Khairul Alam.  

A case was filed with Paltan Police Station against him yesterday.

Meanwhile, a Dhaka court today placed him on one-day remand after he was produced before the court with a five-day remand prayer.
