Khaleda condemns arrest of ETV chairman

Hours after arrest of ETV Chairman Abdus Salam in a case under pornography act, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today condemned the arrest and said the government has barred freedom of speech.
“It is not good for democracy to thwart the opposition and freedom of speech through unlawful and disgusting action,” she said in a written statement signed by Abdul Latif Jalil, assistant office secretary of BNP.
Chairman of Ekushey Television (ETV) Abdus Salam has been arrested around 3:00am today.
He has been arrested under Pornography Control Act 2012, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu told the media.
