The High Court today upheld a government decision not to regularise the job of ABM Altaf Hossain as an additional judge at the HC.

The government in June regularised services of five additional HC judges leaving out the name of Altaf, who was appointed as an additional judge in June, 2012 along with the others.

The government did not mention any reason for the decision.

The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Muhammad Ullah today came up with the order after rejecting two writ petitions filed in July by Supreme Court Lawyer Idrisur Rahman and Altaf challenging the legality of the government decision.

The High Court's additional judges, whose services have been regularised recently, were sworn in on June 12 this year. The five judges are Ashish Ranjan Das, Md Mahmudul Hoque, Md Badruzzaman, Zafar Ahmed and Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo.
