Hamiduzzaman Khan's solo exhibition

Under the titled “Earthly Treasures”, well-known sculptor- cum- painter Hamiduzzaman Khan's solo sculpture and painting exhibition is on at Athena Gallery, Badda in the capital. At the exhibition, a number of metal and wooden sculptures as well as several acrylic- based paintings are on display. Khan is a workaholic sculptor who has carved a path distinctly his own in our art arena with notable forms, themes and variations of work. He tries to focus on diverse forms and shapes, with the particular message that we are an inseparable part of nature, and nature always comes up with a way to survive.
The sculptor is distinguished for his theme-oriented sculptures. Upon careful examination of his works, one finds that the artist tries to merge forms with local materials (wood and metal) found in his surroundings. The sensuous forms he creates, on the background of nature, are well-shaped. His casts in metal and wood become noteworthy through his confident hands.
From the commencement of his career, his prime concerns have been form and composition. His composition is styled with geometric shapes and lines. His works delve deep into botanical motifs like seeds, roots, foliages and human visages (symbolically) as well as numerous indigenous forms. The sculptor is fascinated by nature and its varied puzzling phases, mainly because he is a nature lover. At the exhibition, he has done a number of faces. Some faces seem to be primitive and unfamiliar. The faces are not identical and each face expresses a unique explanation and look.
The exhibition was inaugurated yesterday. Professor Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir; Professor Nazrul Islam, former chairman of University Grants Commission, eminent artist Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, former ambassador Mahboob Alam, Muhammad Aziz Khan, chairman of Summit Group and renowned architect Mustapha Khalid Palash, chairman of Vistaara Architects Ltd were present as guests of honour.
The exhibition will continue till March 31.
