Former Awami League lawmaker Khan Tipu Sultan and his wife went into hiding soon after a murder case was filed against them in connection with the death of their daughter-in-law on Thursday night, said Dhanmondi police.
Shamarukh Mahjabin was found dead in her in-laws' house in Dhanmondi. According to her husband Humayun Sultan, Mahjabin committed suicide as they were facing problems in marital discord. Morgue sources said they did not find any major injury mark in the body.
Yesterday, a Dhaka court sent Humayun, who was arrested on that day, to jail.
Deceased's brother Shahanur Sharif told The Daily Star that "They murdered my sister."  A police official, preferring anonymity, claimed that they recovered a diary which could be written by Mahjabin, and one of its notes read, "My father and husband loved me very much. It is unbearable when a dear one hurts." Police said they are investigating the matter.
