Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rains at some places in eight divisions including Dhaka of the country in next 24 hours commencing 9:00am today.

"Rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions, said a Met office bulletin.

During this period, day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country, according to the bulletin.

Besides, a mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Sirajganj, Maulvibazar, Rangamati, Feni, Chattogram and Patuakhali and it may abate from some places, it said.

Meanwhile, the well-marked low over Southwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay moved northwards, weakened into a low pressure area and now lies over Westcentral Bay and adjoining area.

It is likely to move north-northeastwards and weaken gradually during next 24 hours. A trough of low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area.
