A mobile court today realised Tk 24 lakh in fines from four illegally operated brick kilns in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.

Led by Md Rezwan-Ul-Islam, senior assistant secretary and executive magistrate of the Department of Environment's monitoring and enforcement wing, the mobile court also demolished the Himalayan Brick Kiln in Barunagaon village and partially damaged MAB-02 and MAB-03 Bricks in the same upazila.

The court also fined Tk 6 lakh each to HKB Bricks of Dakkhin Bathina village, and SKB Bricks, MAB-02, and MAB-03 Bricks of Bakasherhat village for violations under the Brick Manufacturing and Brick Field Establishment (Control) Act 2013 (amended in 2019).

Md Tamim Hasan, assistant director of Thakurgaon DoE, served as the prosecutor during the day-long drive.

Firefighters and army personnel assisted the court, said Tamim Hasan.
