Two-time Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón in talks to direct next ‘James Bond’ film for Amazon

Two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón has confirmed he's in discussions to direct the next instalment in the "James Bond" franchise, now under Amazon's wing. The streaming giant acquired MGM and the Bond rights in 2021, signaling a new era for the iconic spy series.

Speaking during a masterclass at the Paris Cinéma Club, Cuarón addressed the long-rumoured reports: "There is indeed this project under discussion, and I have a desire — if it happens — to revisit this story in my own way."

Cuarón is no stranger to big-budget franchise filmmaking. His 2004 film "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" was widely praised for its darker tone and artistic direction, with many critics and fans still ranking it as the finest in the series.
The director's knack for blending character depth with visual storytelling makes him a compelling choice for the future of Bond.

Though no official announcement has been made by Amazon Studios or EON Productions, insiders suggest Cuarón's creative vision could offer a bold new chapter for the 007 universe — particularly as the franchise considers a post-Daniel Craig identity.
The next Bond film remains one of the most anticipated in global cinema, with questions around casting and tone still unanswered.
If the deal goes through, this could mark the most stylistically daring Bond film in recent memory.
