Tom Cruise starrer ‘Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning’ to premiere at Cannes

Tom Cruise's latest action spectacle, "Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning", is set to make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14. The film, the eighth instalment in the long-running spy franchise, will screen out of competition.
Cruise will attend the premiere alongside director and co-writer Christopher McQuarrie. This marks the actor's third appearance at the prestigious French festival.
He first attended in 1992 for Ron Howard's "Far and Away", and returned in 2022 for "Top Gun: Maverick", where he received an honorary Palme d'Or and conducted a masterclass.
According to a statement from the festival, "Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning" sees Cruise reprise his iconic role as Ethan Hunt for what promises to be the final chapter in the saga.
"After nearly thirty years of breathtaking stunts and espionage, Ethan Hunt and his IMF team ask you to trust them one last time," reads the Cannes release, promising audiences "an unforgettable cinematic experience."
Joining Tom Cruise in "Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning" are Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Mariela Garriga and Angela Bassett, among others.
The film is scheduled for theatrical release on May 21 in France and May 23 in the United States, both under Paramount Pictures.
Speculation about the film's Cannes debut began circulating as early as February, when reports suggested the production team was considering a launch at the festival.
The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13 to 24. The complete lineup is expected to be unveiled this Thursday.
According to Variety, films by renowned directors such as Spike Lee, Wes Anderson, Kristen Stewart, Jim Jarmusch, Ari Aster and Richard Linklater are also among the anticipated titles vying for a spot on the Croisette.
