Simon Fisher-Becker, the beloved actor who portrayed the Hogwarts ghost Fat Friar in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", has passed away at the age of 63.

The news was shared by his husband, Tony, in a heartfelt Facebook post on Sunday (March 9). "Hello everyone. This is Tony, Simon's husband. I have some very sad news. At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away," he wrote. "I'll be keeping this account open for a while. I'm not sure at this point if I'll be posting again. Thank you."

The cause of Fisher-Becker's death remains undisclosed, though his manager, Kim Barry, confirmed the passing to various media outlets. In a statement, she expressed her grief, "Today I lost not only a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close friend of 15 years standing."

Barry went on to share fond memories of the actor, recalling the moment he was offered the role of Dorium Maldovar in "Doctor Who". "Simon was also a writer, a raconteur, and a great public speaker. He helped me out enormously and was kind, gracious, and interested in everyone. My condolences go to his husband Tony, his brother, nieces and nephews, and his legion of fans."

Fisher-Becker's career spanned 48 acting roles, starting in 1990 with his appearance on "ScreenPlay Firsts". He gained global recognition for his role as the Fat Friar, one of the resident ghosts of Hogwarts in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". His character is introduced when Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) first arrives at the school.

Fisher-Becker eventually became widely known for his portrayal of Dorium Maldovar in the iconic British sci-fi series "Doctor Who". He appeared in several episodes and audio adaptations of the show. His performance in the 2012 film "Les Misérables" as part of the ensemble cast for the famous "Master of the House" number also earned him further acclaim.
