After more than two decades apart, veteran Indian stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and Chiranjeet Chakraborty are making a highly-anticipated comeback to the big screen. The two actors, last seen together in the 2002 film "Inquilaab", will now reunite in the latest instalment of the "Kakababu" franchise titled "Bijoynagar er Hirey", directed by Chandrasish Ray.

Fans are ecstatic about the reunion, as Prosenjit and Chiranjeet were once among Tollywood's most popular on-screen duos, especially in family dramas. Their last collaboration, however, was over 20 years ago. Their new film is a signal to reignite that magic and bring audiences a fresh, gripping adventure.

The official announcement of their reunion was made at SVF and Hoichoi's "Golper Parbon 1432" event, where it was confirmed that Chiranjeet will play a crucial role in the upcoming movie. Although his exact character details have yet to be disclosed, insiders suggest that his part will be significant to the plot. The film's opening ceremony recently took place, although Chiranjeet was notably absent from the event.

Prosenjit's portrayal of the beloved adventurer Kakababu has been widely acclaimed since he first took on the role in 2013's "Mishawr Rohoshyo". This was followed by two more successful films in the franchise: "Yeti Obhijaan" in 2017 and "Kakababur Protyaborton" in 2022. However, for this upcoming film, there will be some major changes.

Arian Bhowmik, who portrayed Shontu (Kakababu's nephew) in the previous films, will not return for this venture. Instead, the role will now be played by Arghya Basu Ray.

Additionally, for the first time, renowned director Srijit Mukherji, who brought Kakababu back to Bengali cinema, will not be involved in the project. Chandrasish Ray, who previously worked with Prosenjit on his debut film "Nirontor", has taken over as director for "Bijoynagar er Hirey".
