Telling the tale of salt-water tide and seashore dwellers, the trailer and the poster of Rezwan Shahriar Sumit's directorial debut "Nonajoler Kabbo" was unveiled today at a press meet at the capital's Dhaka Club. The film will be released on November 26 on all theatres of Star Cineplex.

Travelling and earning positive remarks worldwide through BFI London Film Festival, Ingmar Bergman Competition, and Busan International Film Festival, the film is now selected to be screened United 26th UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland where national leaders, including prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, will be present.

Film cast, including Fazlur Rahman Babu, Titas Zia, and Tasnova Tamanna, alongside the music director of the project Arnob and noted director and Sumit's close friend and mentor Amitabh Reza Chowdhury were present at the event, among others. The government funded project, produced by the director Rezwan Shahriar Sumit, has also received the Cinema de Mond grant and the Torino Film Lab Audience Design Fund.

The event began with the screening of the trailer. This was followed by a speech by National Award winning actor Fazlur Rahman Babu.

"I was impressed by Sumit's story," shared Fazlur Rahman Babu, who will be seen in the character of a village chairman in the production. "The working experience was also very different as the technical team of 'Nonajoler Kabbo' consisted of people from USA and France among other nations and we all had to travel to a completely different environment to shoot. We had a lot to learn from each other while we also had the scope to learn from the fishermen living the villages which helped us absorb our characters better."

In the production, National Award winning actor Titas Zia was seen as Rudra, an artist who decides to life with fishermen, feeling their struggles, their social norms and their regime.

"If I consider a cinema to be a painting, then each member of the cast and crew, be it the actors, the directors, the production team, or the producer, has a different responsibility," shared the "Mrittika Maya" famed actor. "While one of us becomes the canvas, some takes up the burden of strokes, some ends up playing the painting brush and some appear as colours that ensure the beauty of the creation and this film was no different."

Tasnova Tamanna will be seen as "Tuni" in the production. "Tuni is aware of her ignorance and despite hailing from such an environment where women are often barred from exercising their right, she comes as a rather strong and resilient character and that's what inspired me to take up this role."

The trailer of the film projects simplicity but the brilliant cinematography steals the show. Paired with the sound of wind and flute, the ambience it creates lets the viewers travel to the ecosystem of the place the film is set in.

"The film is very relevant to the present context, simple yet scintillating," shares Arnob. The film features two songs both composed by the "Shey je Boshe Ache" famed musician.

The programme ended with Fazlur Rahman Babu singing, "Ki Bolibo Shonar Chand Re", a number from the trailer written by Jasimuddin and composed by Arnob, and the unveiling ceremony of the poster by the team of "Nonajoler Kabbo".
