‘Naisha’ trailer introduces India’s first AI-powered movie stars

The trailer for "Naisha", India's first AI-powered film, has officially been released. Set for a theatrical debut in May 2025, it features virtual stars Naisha Bose and Zain Kapoor in lead roles.
The trailer provides a sneak peek into a futuristic storyline, highlighting the potential of artificial intelligence in film production. Directed by Vivek Anchalia and produced by Pori Bhuyan, Shweta Sharma Anchalia, and Joseph Franklin, the film aims to revolutionise storytelling by blending AI-generated characters and visuals seamlessly.
The trailer introduces Naisha, who is of Bengali and Mizo descent, and Zain, a stand-up comedian, rapper, and swimmer. Their paths cross, and they grow close. Although Naisha develops romantic feelings for Zain, he doesn't return them, as he doesn't believe in love. Eventually, they part ways. Later, Naisha rises to fame as a top actress. What unfolds between the two after this could be the central plot of the film.
Filmmaker Vivek Anchalia, the creator and director of this pioneering project, brings his storytelling expertise to audiences once again. Known for directing "Tikdam" on Jio Hotstar and co-writing the Netflix Original "Rajma Chawal", Anchalia sees "Naisha" as a milestone in Bollywood's embrace of AI.
"With 'Naisha', we're blending the power of human storytelling and Indian music with the technological marvel of AI to create stories that appeal to a broad audience. Cinema and digital entertainment have advanced through technology, but this is an entirely new frontier. AI enables us to push boundaries and turn what was once impossible into reality," says Anchalia to an Indian portal.
"Naisha" also boasts an exceptional musical lineup, featuring contributions from renowned industry veterans. Daniel B George, the acclaimed composer behind the original scores for "Andhadhun", "Johnny Gaddar", "Merry Christmas", "Bellbottom", "Bawaal", and more, has crafted two enchanting tracks—"Manmaniyaan" and "Ruhaniyaan", both sung by Madhubanti Bagchi. Additionally, "Cheater Saiyaan" and "Jaane Kahan" have been composed by Protijyoti Ghosh and Ujjwal Kashyap, respectively.
