Modhuban Cineplex is set to open in Bogura with an Indian movie on Friday. The inauguration ceremony will be held with the screening of Kolkata's Bangla film, "Bazzi" starring Jeet and Mimi Chakraborty in the lead roles.

Rokonuzzaman Md Eunus, Director of Modhuban Cineplex, confirmed the matter to The Daily Star.

He also mentioned how they were about to open the cinema hall in 2020, but due to the surge in Covid-19 cases, their plans were halted.

"We are done with all the preparations and are looking forward to opening the hall. Modhuban will start its journey as a multiplex from October 15. Apart from showcasing Bangladeshi movies, we are planning on screening Hollywood movies as well," added Rokonuzzaman Md Eunus.

The cinema hall, established in 1969, was closed from 2017 for reconstruction and renovation purposes.

During the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, the construction of the hall was halted, and it was finally inaugurated in 1974.
