Kolkata-based film ‘Baazi’ disappoints Bangladeshi hall owners

Kolkata-based film "Baazi" has been released in 44 halls yesterday. Jeet and Mimi Chakroborty starrer film is being showcased at the highest number of halls since the pandemic has hit.
Owner of Titas Kothachitro, Abul Kalam, has confirmed The Daily Star about the number of halls.
Manager of Monihar, Jessore told The Daily Star, "We expected that a satisfactory number of audiences will visit theatres at the premiere, however, we are disappointed," he says.
Modhuban Cineplex was inaugurated with "Baazi" yesterday. One of the owners of the hall, M Younus Rubel shares that after releasing, only two shows had a satisfactory number of audiences. After that till Saturday noon, the attendance was miniscule.
After nineteen months, Modhumita reopened with "Baazi". Owner of the hall, Iftekhar Uddin Nawshad shared his views with The Daily Star, "Honestly, we expected much more," he says. "I think people need time to get adjusted, since it has been a long time, they avoided large crowds."
He also informed that he paid a visit himself yesterday. "Although people did attend, but the number was not satisfactory," he adds, "If we have good cinema, we hope people will respond more."
Manager of Shyamoli Cinema Hall, Ahsanullah, also thinks the same way. "It is not the first time that Indian film releases have disappointed us. We could hardly sell any tickets since yesterday. If we can make big-budget Bangladeshi films, I am sure moviegoers will be more interested in coming to the theatres," he concludes.
Targeting the Durga Puja, "Baazi" was released in Kolkata. The film is an official remake of the 2016 Telugu movie, "Nannaku Prematho".
