Johnny Depp's rep speaks up about USD 301M deal with Disney

Previously, Johnny Depp had mentioned in court that he would not return to play the infamous role of Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. This was because the actor felt that Disney dropped the actor from the project without sufficient evidence to prove he was guilty.

However, recently it has been reported in multiple outlets that he is likely to sign a USD 301 million deal with Disney. Initially, all of the information was coming through insider sources, that is until Depp's own representative finally commented about the rumoured return to Disney.

When speaking to NBC News, Johnny Depp's representative denied these reports, adding that these rumours were unsubstantiated, and had been on the rise since Depp's win against Amber Heard in their defamation lawsuit.

Depp had previously mentioned that he would not return to Disney's "Pirates" franchise no matter what. He even mentioned in a question by Amber's lawyer, that he would not return even if he was offered "USD 300 million and a million alpacas".

The actor had also said, "Two years had gone by of constant worldwide talk about me being this wife-beater. So I'm sure that Disney was trying to cut ties to be safe. The #MeToo movement was in full swing at that point. They didn't remove my character from the rides. They didn't stop selling dolls of Captain Jack Sparrow. They didn't stop selling anything. They just didn't want there to be something trailing behind me that they'd find."
