Himesh Reshammiya revives ‘80s masala in ‘Badass Ravi Kumar’

Himesh Reshammiya is set to make a spectacular comeback, reprising his role as Ravi Kumar from Anant Mahadevan's 2014 period thriller, "The Xpose" in the upcoming film "Badass Ravi Kumar". It takes place in the same cinematic universe and embodies the vibrant spirit of 1980s Bollywood.
The trailer opens with a deceptively romantic tone, quickly shifting to reveal Ravi Kumar (Reshammiya) wielding a chainsaw to cut down his enemies.
It features everything from a high-stakes heist in a heavily guarded vault to cars flying through the air under machine gun fire, a flamboyantly dressed villain, energetic item songs, and a hero delivering punchlines with an unlit cigarette always hanging from his lips. Packed with over-the-top action and drama, the trailer embodies classic Bollywood masala cinema.
The film is notably a spin-off featuring Reshammiya's iconic character Ravi Kumar from "The Xpose". Described as "a grand tribute to Bollywood's golden era," it promises intense action, memorable characters, and a storyline rich with the signature masala flair of the '80s.
In a statement introducing the cast and their roles, the makers reveal that Prabhu Deva is set to impress as Carlos Pedro Panther, a larger-than-life antagonist whose menace and charisma dominate the screen. Kirti Kulhari will stand out as Laila, a bold and dynamic character.
The film also includes Sanjay Mishra as Rana, Johny Lever as Rana, Manish Wadhwa as Zaid Bashir, Anil George as Bhujang, Rajesh Sharma as Jagaavar Chaudhry, Prashant Narayan as Mahavir Ahuja, and Saurabh Sachdeva as Awasthi, with Sunny Leone playing Nisha, adding further intrigue to the action-packed narrative. Simona will make her debut as Madhubala, one of the leads opposite Himesh.
The film, directed by Keith Gomes and produced by Himesh Reshammiya Melodies, features a screenplay by Kushal Bakshi and Himesh Reshammiya, with dialogues written by Bunty Rathore.
Himesh Reshammiya contributed as the composer for both the music and background score, while Manoj Soni oversaw the cinematography, and Ram Ishwar took charge of the editing.
