Six-time National Award-winning actor Fazlur Rahman Babu is currently attending the Moscow International Film Festival, where his latest film "Mastul" has been officially selected for the main competition. Out of 11 films from around the world, "Mastul" is the only entry representing Bangladesh this year.

Speaking to The Daily Star over the phone from Moscow, Babu expressed his excitement:
"This has been an extraordinary experience, something I will cherish for a long time. I've traveled to many countries, but visiting Russia has remained a dream. It feels incredibly special to finally be here with a film I've acted in."

The world premiere of "Mastul" took place yesterday, attended by a large international audience. Babu was joined by director Mohammad Nuruzzaman, actor Deepak Suman, and cinematographer Mohammad Arifuzzaman.

"The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive," said Babu. "People appreciated our performances and spoke highly of Bangladeshi cinema."

A second screening of "Mastul" is scheduled for tomorrow. The team also participated in a 'Meet the Press' session where most questions were directed to the director, but Babu and others also shared their experiences.

Reflecting on his first visit to Russia, the actor said, "I've seen the Red Square, museums, and more. I'll be exploring again today and meeting with local Bangladeshis here."

He further added that Russian literature and cinema have deeply influenced him:
"I used to watch Russian films at the Russian Cultural Center in Dhaka and have read works by famous Russian writers. This visit has fulfilled a long-held desire."

The actor concluded by saying, "Being part of the main competition at the prestigious Moscow International Film Festival is a proud moment for us. The global recognition of 'Mastul' brings immense joy and honor to Bangladeshi cinema."

Babu, the director, and the rest of the "Mastul" team will remain in Russia until April 25, returning to Bangladesh on the 26th.
