Emraan Hashmi took to social media yesterday to announce "Awarapan 2", the sequel to his hit 2007 action film "Awarapan". Set to hit theatres on April 3, 2026, the film is written by Bilal Siddiqi and directed by Nitin Kakkar ("Jawaani Jaaneman").

Emraan shared a short video featuring scenes from the original film, accompanied by his voiceover recounting past events. The clip shows multiple gunshots being fired at him before cutting to the present, where he opens his eyes and says, "To lay my life for someone else is my destiny." The background score features "Tera Mera Rishta", a triumphant song from the first film.
In his caption, Emraan wrote, "Keep me alive for some more time. 'Awarapan 2' in cinemas, April 3, 2026. More details from the project are awaited."
The original "Awarapan" starred Shriya Saran, Ashutosh Rana, Purab Kohli, and Ashish Vidyarthi in key roles. It followed a hitman (played by Emraan) tasked with watching over his boss's mistress, only to discover she is a victim of human trafficking. He then sets out to rescue her. Though the film received positive reviews from critics, it underperformed at the box office but later achieved "cult classic" status, especially for its music composed by Pritam.
Meanwhile, Emraan will next be seen in "Ground Zero", scheduled for release on April 25.
