From child artiste to 80’s star, the story of Sucharita

A paragon of beauty, Sucharita made her name in the industry through her acting skills and diverse body of work. Over her long career, Sucharita ruled over the black and white screen with immeasurable grace.
The legendary actress made her debut in the film "Shangskriti", directed by Azizur Rahman. Since then, the actress took on multiple films, until she finally got her big break with the 1972 film, "Jadur Bashi".
Afterwards, the noted actress worked opposite many illustrious actors such as Uzzal, Alamgir, Sohel Rana and Ilias Kanchan, among many others. With almost a Midas-like touch, any project she worked on—whether a social film or a romantic one—gained immense success.

Her character 'Pakhi', in "Jadur Bashi"—usually considered one of her best performances, alongside her role in "Kajal Lata"—enthralled the Bangladeshi audience. Even now, her films still have a special place in the hearts and souls of her countless fans.
Sucharita became household name after her work in the film, "Hangor Nodi Grenade"—which was directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam. In recent years, the actress has also worked on Chotku Ahmed's "Ahare Jibon".

Speaking to The Daily Star, Sucharita said, "I have been acting for years now, I am good at it and it has become my passion. Acting gives me a sense of inner peace."
After "Ahare Jibon", the actress also worked on three films directed by Badiul Alam Khokon.

"As an actress, I only want the love and respect of our audience," said Sucharita, "That's why I wish to live with love and respect till my last breath."
Sucharita started her journey as a child artiste, earning herself the stage name of "Baby Helen". Over her storied career, she became a legend of Bangladeshi cinema, earning a permanent place for herself in the hearts of countless Bangladeshis.
