Afran Nisho fans make a statement in prison attire at ‘Daagi’ screening

Shihab Shaheen's crime thriller "Daagi" continues to draw packed halls, even after three weeks since its release during Eid. But things took a dramatic twist yesterday when over a hundred die-hard fans of Afran Nisho turned up at a theatre dressed as convicts—literally.
Wearing prison uniforms marked with "786"—a nod to Nisho's character in the film—the fans showed up at the SKS Tower Star Cineplex in Mohakhali yesterday afternoon. The surprise fan event, coordinated by the film's production team, turned the screening into a real-life spectacle.

"Daagi" stars Afran Nisho as a hardened, mysterious convict, with the number "786" branded on his uniform—a visual that's now become iconic among fans. Starring opposite him is actress Tama Mirza, with a supporting cast that includes Sunerah Binte Kamal, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Gazi Rakayet, Mili Bashar, and Rashed Mamun Apu.

"Daagi" was jointly produced by SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Ltd and popular streaming platform Chorki.
The film has garnered buzz not just for its gritty storytelling and performances, but now also for inspiring fans to blur the line between cinema and reality.
