Popular singer Kumar Bishwajit has been away from music for quite some time. Following a serious accident involving his only son, Kumar Nibir, nearly two years ago, the legendary artiste distanced himself from performing. Since then, he has been living in Canada with his wife.

It has now been confirmed that Kumar Bishwajit is set to make a return to stage performances.

Speaking to the media, the artiste said his schedule will begin next month. Starting from Toronto, Canada, he will perform in several international cities, including Paris, New Zealand, Qatar, and various states across Australia.

"Despite continuous interest from organisers, I had no desire to perform anywhere," he shared.

"Music is an emotional expression, and to be honest, I just wasn't feeling that emotion. However, due to repeated requests, I did perform at one or two shows over the past two years."

He added, "My audience is like family. For over four decades, I have shared my joys and sorrows with them through music. I felt it was time to reconnect with that family. That's why I've decided to return to the stage this year."

As his son Nibir's condition gradually improves, Bishwajit has agreed to perform at a select few concerts.

"Since Nibir's condition is improving slowly, I decided to take part in some stage shows. Organisers from several countries had been reaching out for a while, and I've now agreed to perform, considering the circumstances," he explained.

Kumar Bishwajit will perform in a concert in Toronto on June 22. In July, he is scheduled to perform in Paris, while discussions are ongoing for a show in New Zealand.

In August, he will tour Australia for a series of concerts—performing in Melbourne on August 23, Sydney on August 30, Brisbane on August 31, and Perth on September 6.

Notably, in February 2023, Kumar Bishwajit's only son, Kumar Nibir, suffered a critical injury in a road accident in Canada. He has since been undergoing treatment and has been at a rehab centre in Mississauga for the past year.
