Recently, Green Day delivered a politically charged headline performance at Coachella 2025, modifying their lyrics to highlight the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.

While performing "Jesus of Suburbia", frontman Billie Joe Armstrong altered a line to say, "Runnin' away from pain like the kids from Palestine," instead of the original, "Runnin' away from pain when you've been victimised."

The moment quickly gained traction online, as fans posted clips featuring the altered lyrics.

It's not the first time the band has revised their material to mirror today's political landscape. Back in 2016, they tweaked the lyrics of "Holiday" to take a swipe at the-Republican nominee Donald Trump, whom they labelled a "white supremacist."

The set highlighted Green Day's rebellious spirit, kicking off with "American Idiot" as Billie Joe Armstrong declared, "I'm not part of the MAGA agenda." Before playing "Holiday", he emphasised, "This song is anti-war." Their 90-minute performance was packed with iconic tracks like "Basket Case," "Wake Me Up When September Ends," and "Minority."

Throughout the show, fan interactions underscored the band's approachability. Armstrong brought audience members onstage during "Know Your Enemy" and "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)," creating a shared, inclusive concert experience.

Green Day made their debut at the iconic Coachella festival during its 24th edition. The event spanned two weekends, with the first running from April 11 to 13 and the second set for April 18 to 20.
