Bengali New Year celebrations through melodies

The Bengali New Year is being celebrated today with vibrant arrangements unfolding across the country. From lively concerts to musical performances, renowned artistes and bands are taking the stage to delight audiences and spread festive cheer nationwide.
In Dhaka, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, is hosting an open-air concert on Manik Mia Avenue. The program will begin at 3pm and continue until 7pm, featuring performances by Jahid Nirob, Sagor Dewan, Islam Uddin Palakar, Parsha Mahjabeen, Atiya Anisha, Pinky Chhetri, Ahmed Hasan Sunny, Mithun Chakra, Rakib, and Ustad Aroj Ali. A spectacular drone show will follow the concert, and the event is open to all.
Catch Bangladesh, under the initiative of Dhaka North City Corporation, is presenting the Baisakhi Mela and City Festival at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Memorial Park in Gulshan. The three-day event begins today, with the band Shironamhin performing on the opening day. Other bands, such as Ghaashphoring Choir and Plasmic Knock will also take the stage at 4pm. A Baul music session was held earlier at 10am. On the final day of the festival, bands including F Minor, Pseudos On A Wrong Route, and The Rover will perform starting at 8pm.
At the BUET campus, a day-long celebration titled "Bhite Barir Baishakh 1432", organised by the Department of Architecture, will take place. The band Avash will perform during the musical segment of the programme.
Concerts are also scheduled at Jagannath University, where bands Ashes, Chander Gari, and Metal Error will perform from 3pm. In the evening, musician Rezaul Karim Limon will sing at the Banani stopover.
NTV is celebrating the occasion at its Tejgaon studio with a daylong festival divided into three segments. The morning segment (8am to 10am), titled "Alokdharay Esho", will feature songs and poetry by legendary poets Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Dwijendralal Ray, Atul Prasad Sen, and Rajinikanth. Performers include Aniruddha Sengupta, Champa Banik, Mamun Zahid Khan, Shimu De, Mahidul Islam, and Polly Parvin.
The mid-day segment, "Bangla Praner Shur" (10am to 2pm), will showcase modern and folk Bengali songs with performances by Jhilik, Luipa, Nishi Sraboni, Rimi, Rajib, Muhin, and others. The evening segment, "Rudro Hawa" (2:30pm to 6:30pm), will feature performances by the band Different Touch and Mila & Friends.
Later in the evening, Animesh Roy and Mithun Chakra will perform at a New Year's celebration on Madani Avenue, near United International University.
Singer Elita Karim is set to perform at 4pm at the NSU Gallery and Plaza in a programme organised by the North South University Shangskritik Shangathan.
Meanwhile, Monir Khan will perform near the Kanchan Bridge along the 300-foot road. Kona will sing at the IEB Auditorium, and Dithi Anwar will perform at Dhaka Club.
