DNCC market in Mohakhali to be used as isolation centre

The six-storey DNCC market in Dhaka's Mohakhali area would be turned into a 1000-bed isolation centre under the supervision of Armed Forces Division and with support of the health ministry.

Also, the sixth floor of the market will be turned into a 300-bed specialised hospital with five ICU beds with the financial support of World Health Organization (WHO) and under supervision of the health ministry, said a press release.

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam would monitor the activities of the isolation centre.

Covid-19 positive patients with mild symptoms, who are referred from different hospitals, can be admitted here for treatment.

The isolation centre authority can transfer the patients to other specialised hospitals if needed, the press release read.

A Brigadier ranked official of Bangladesh Army would be appointed as the director of the isolation centre.

Bangladesh Army will oversee the administration and overall security of the isolation centre while doctors and nurses would be provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
