A Dhaka court today placed Azharul Islam, an organising secretary of hefajat's previous central committee, on a five-day remand in a case filed with Jatrabari Police Station in Dhaka on March 27.

Earlier in the day, detectives arrested him from Jatrabari, Iftekhairul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed to The Daily Star. 

Police officials said Azharul is accused in cases filed with different police stations following the mayhem in 2013 and in late march this year.
