The authorities of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) today closed the university till September 30 after students went on a rampage on the campus following a power disruption.

The students were asked to vacate dormitories by 5:00pm tomorrow, reports our Pabna correspondent quoting Faruk Hossain Chowdhury, assistant director of PUST.

The university authorities took the decision hours after hundreds of students of Bangabandhu hall set three university buses on fire and vandalised two more buses on the campus around 1:30am, said Awal Kabir Joy, proctor of the PUST.

Many students alleged that they staged demonstration on the campus as the university authorities did not take any step to solve the frequent power outage at the dormitories.

Meanwhile, a seven-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident.
