Former Viqarunnisa teacher dies

Naeem Ara Hussain, a former teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College who tested negative for Covid-19 after initially testing positive on May 29, died at a hospital in Dhaka today. She was 65.
She died at 5:40am today while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital due to different ailments including pneumonia and diabetes, her husband Prof Golam Rahman said.
She is survived by husband, one son, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers.
Prof Rahman, former chief of information commissioner (CIC) and a retired Prof of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University, said his wife Naeem Ara tested positive for coronavirus on May 29.
Later, Prof Rahman and a few other family members also tested positive.
She was admitted to the hospital after her condition deteriorated, but she along with other family members were tested negative for Covid-19 on July 1.
Naeem Ara was kept at the hospital as she did not recover from other ailments and finally died there, Prof Rahman said.
She was buried at Azimpur Graveyard around 3:30pm after her namaz-e-janaza at a mosque in Paribagh.
DU former Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death and conveyed deep sympathy for the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
