Former advisor to a caretaker government, AKM Amanul Islam Chowdhury, died from Covid-19 yesterday afternoon. He was 83.

He was undergoing treatment at Uttara's Crescent Hospital.

In 2001, Amanul Islam served as the caretaker government's advisor for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, as well as the Ministry of Water Resources, says a press release by Nalonda, a wing of the cultural organisation Chhayanaut.

He was the younger brother of eminent academic Professor Serajul Islam Chowdhury.
