The Chattogram district administration has relocated 200 families living in the risky hill slopes and they have been given shelter at 19 shelter centres in the city.
The Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Kamrul Hasan and deputy commissioner of Chattogram Mominur Rahman today visited the Motijharna hill at Lalkhanbazar area today to talk to people living in the at-risk areas and to persuade them to evacuate to shelter centres.
During their visit, they found 20 families at Motijharna hill living in risky hill slopes. The families were given food assistance and asked to move to the shelter centres.
Deputy Commissioner Mominur said alongside relocating the families in the wake of monsoon rains, they also conducted an awareness campaign.
Nazmul Hasan, additional deputy commissioner of Chattogram, said they have been keeping a watch on the hills so that relocated families do not return to the hill slopes again.
