The demands include pay hike, food rationing for the miners, overtime payment and six-hour working period for underground workers.

Meanwhile, villagers' leaders Moshiur Rahman Bulbul said they would start indefinite blockade of road and rail route to realise their six-point demand that includes proper compensation for land subsidence victims of 20 villages, repair of two damaged roads and withdrawal of the false cases.

Leaders of the villagers and mine workers at a press conference on April 26 gave an ultimatum to realise their combined 19-point demand.

BCMCL Managing Director Habib Uddin said they are trying to reach a solution with the miners and affected villagers as early as possible.
