Education inspector caught red-handed while taking bribe

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today caught an official of the ministry of education red-handed while taking bribe worth Tk 2 lakh at Palwel Super Market in Dhaka this afternoon.
The detainee Mustafizur Rahman is an assistant education inspector of the department of inspection and audit of the ministry of education, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told The Daily Star.
Earlier, Mustafiz inspected a school at Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur and claimed Tk 3 lakh from the school authority assuring them to give a positive report, he said.
Based on information, the anti-graft watchdog set up a trap and caught Mustafiz red-handed while he was taking Tk 2 lakh from the headmaster of the school around 5:15pm.
At the same time, the ACC officials also recovered more Tk 98,000 from his possession.
A case was lodged with Paltan Police Station in this connection.
