A constable of Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) was suspended for taking selfies with a minister at Barisal Women’s College this afternoon.

On duty police constable Rabiul Awal was at a security team member of Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, who attended the college’s annual sports competition as the chief guest, reports our Barisal correspondent.

Rabiul was taking selfies continuously with the minister in his mobile phone after the programme, said Md Awolad Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station.

Abul Kalam Azad, additional police commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police, said the selfie-taking constable was suspended over violation of security rules and disciplines.

“He was on duty for the security of the minister. How could he engage in taking selfies with the minister in his mobile phone?” he said.
