Sixteen people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8:00am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 7,966 and the death rate stands at 1.5 percent.

At least 584 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of infections to 5,30,271, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 3.96 percent and the total positivity rate stands at 15.08 percent.

A total of 14,761 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours .

At least 602 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 4,75,074 and the recovery rate is now 89.59 percent.

Of the 16 deceased, 11 were men and five were women. Of them, one was between 21 to 30 years old, two were between 31 to 40, one within 41-50, three within 51-60 and the rest were above 60 years old, added the release.
