Prof Md Sayeed Salam, head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the State University of Bangladesh, has been appointed as its vice-chancellor on September 23.

He obtained his PhD and MSc in computer science from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He obtained his BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) in 1984.  He became a member of Australian Computer Society and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineer, USA, in 1997 and 2007 respectively.
