The government yesterday formed a three-member Press Appellate Board with Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Mohammad Momtaj Uddin Ahmed as its ex officio chairman.

The rest two members are the joint secretary (press) of the Ministry of Information, and Press Council member Daily Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar, said an official release.

The board, formed as per the Printing Presses and Publications (Declaration and Registration) Act, 1973, disposes of appeals filed against any decision of a district magistrate concerned on giving declaration of a newspaper.
