Muktamoni, the 12-year-old Satkhira girl, who has been suffering from an “unknown disease” causing abnormal swelling of her right arm, has undergone a third surgery at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital yesterday.

After the three-and-a-half-hours operation beginning at 9:00am, national burn unit coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen told reporters that there were no more tumours in her arm.

Doctors conducted a 3rd surgery after the 2nd biopsy found existence of tumours in the blood vessels of the arm on August 18. They had to leave the second surgery half done on August 29 as her body temperature soared due to fever.

On August 12, doctors removed a 3kg tumour from her arm. A 13-member team is looking into her case.
