A rickshaw puller died when an unidentified vehicle hit him in Dhaka's Tejgaon area early today.

The victim was identified as Moksedul Islam, 25, hailing from Dimla Upazila in Nilphamari district.

The vehicle hit his rickshaw when Moksedul was crossing Bijoy Sarani area around 4:00am, leaving him critically injured, said Abdur Razzak, a sub-inspector of Tejgaon Police Station.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, he said.

The victim's elder sister Fahida Akter said his brother used to live with his family at East Nakhal Para area.

He went out with his rickshaw on Wednesday afternoon and was supposed to return home this morning. "A police man told us that he was killed in a road accident," she said.
